Sofie and Joan are visiting New Zealand and Australia thanks to a ‘Share Your Practice’ grant from the Danish Art Foundation. We will give lectures in Wellington, Auckland, Brisbane, Newcastle and Sydney and share our projects, approach and working methods.
We will among other things talk about the development and co-operation of the users of space, pursuing methods for socially sustainable architecture by involving local people in each project. Several of Spektrums projects focus on this participatory approach: Fjelstervang Udeforsamlingshus, a multi-purpose hall built at low budget by the local community of 500 people during summer 2013, and People’s Park, a renewal of a complex, disparate and unsafe park that socially integrated the many users of and invited the wider neighbourhood to engage in their park.
Apart from that we will be running workshops, and teach at some of the Architecture Universities on the East Coast.
